Students create a comic showing how the Underground Railroad worked and what its historical consequences were.

Student Instructions

For this activity, create a comic covering at least two of these aspects of the Underground Railroad:
- Show how the Underground Railroad worked and explain the different roles people played (e.g. conductors, passengers, etc.)
- Show what life was like for people traveling on the Railroad
- Show what life was like for people once they arrived north
- Describe the historical consequences of the Underground Railroad

Teaching Tips

Encourage students to plan what they'll include in each panel before they start. Being mentally organized at the outset will help ensure a clear and well structured finished comic!
